How to Play KAISER

KAISER is a free, seed-driven historical football game. You draft an all-time squad, choose a formation and tactics, then manage a full season that fights back — injuries, suspensions, cup runs and a winter transfer gamble. Here's everything you need to know.

▶ Start playing — it's free

1. The draft

Every run starts with a draft from a chosen edition (a country's all-time player pool). You pick your squad player by player from randomised packs of legends — weighted toward the greats but with plenty of surprises. The draft is seed-driven: the same seed produces the exact same draft order, so a run is perfectly shareable and repeatable. Free players get two draft re-rolls to reshape a pack; KAISER Pro members get three.

2. Formation & style

Pick from classic formations — 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 3-5-2, 4-2-3-1 and more — and a team style: Defensive, Balanced or Attacking. Players have up to three natural positions; fielding someone out of position weakens them, so shape and squad-building matter as much as raw ratings. See exactly which positions each player covers in the database.

3. Tactics & trade-offs

Layer on tactical instructions, each a genuine trade-off — a buff in one area paid for by a debuff in another. There's no free lunch; the art is matching your tactics to your squad and your opponent. Full tactics guide →

4. Playing the season

A league season runs a full slate of matchdays. Play match by match or simulate, watch the table evolve, and manage your lineup as fixtures pile up. Fatigue is real — rotate or risk it.

5. Injuries & suspensions

Your stars pick up knocks and bookings. An injury can sideline a key player for weeks; a red card or accumulated yellows brings suspensions. Depth wins titles.

6. Cups

Beyond the league, chase domestic and continental cups — the European Cup, the South American Cup and the 48-nation World Cup. Cup football has its own drama: knockout ties, penalty shootouts, and naming your captain and penalty order. Continental and global cups are a KAISER Pro feature, with a free weekly trial.

7. The winter transfer window

Around mid-season a winter window opens — and rival clubs may come for your best player. Cash in, hold firm, or gamble on a replacement. It's a genuine fork in your season.

8. The Daily Challenge

Every day, everyone in the world gets the same seed — the same draft, fixtures and board. Skill is all that separates you: build the best squad and tactics and climb the global Daily leaderboard. Free players get one attempt a day; Pro members get three. How to win the Daily →

9. Scoring & leaderboards

Your season score is the sum of your match points across every competition, with goal difference as the tiebreak. Sign in with a free account to post runs to the global and Daily leaderboards, earn honours, and build a Hall of Fame profile.

10. Accounts & KAISER Pro

KAISER is free to play, no account required. A free account unlocks leaderboards, honours and cross-device saves. KAISER Pro is an optional membership that keeps the servers online — unlimited seasons, all cups, Superleague, extra Daily attempts, an ad-free experience and a supporter badge. Jump in and play →

Player traits & playstyles

Many players — especially the biggest stars — carry a signature trait, shown as an icon next to their name. A trait is a fixed part of a player's identity (a legend keeps the same one every run) and each does something real: a Poacher scores more tap-ins, a Playmaker racks up assists, a Penalty King or Free-Kick Wizard takes and converts your dead balls, Clutch players raise their game in decisive matches, and an Engine shrugs off fatigue. A few are flaws — Injury Prone, Hothead or Inconsistent. Hover any trait icon in-game to see exactly what it does. Full player-traits guide →
